Food Law Society is seeking new board members.
If you've enjoyed any of the Food Law events this quarter - drinking artisanal wine from Italy, learning about the food recall system, or hearing from Bill Marler about food safety and the Food Modernization Act - consider running for the board.
There are tons of topics to cover next year, from organic labeling to GMOs. There's also more wine to drink, brewery tours to take, and local cafes and restaurants to bring to the law school.
All positions are open: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and (2) Program Directors.
Interested students (and members of the community) should email FLS with their name, class and position sought by May 9.
On May 5, FLS is hosting William Marler, managing partner at Marler Clark, for a discussion about issues in food safety.
Mr. Marler is a leading food safety attorney and advocate. He began litigating foodborne illness cases in 1993, when he represented Brianne Kiner, the most seriously injured survivor of the Jack in the Box E. coli O157:H7 outbreak.
An informational meeting and elections will be held soon.
The Food Law Society is kicking off its first events in April. On April 13, FLS and the Hemingway Society are cosponsoring a lecture on the regulations affecting wine production followed by a tasting of wines from around the world.
On April 20, FLS will host Greg Pallaske, Director of Regulatory Compliance and Food Safety and U.S. Foodservice, for a discussion of the food recall system. Click here for more information.
